Testimonials
Ryan Le, DMD, AEGD CO2020
Completing the residency helped prepare me for real world clinical situations. I researched many other programs and none of them provided me with the reassurance that it was going to be well rounded clinically and didactically. I felt more than prepared after I graduated to handle a wide variety of cases that I wouldn’t have been able to tackle by myself. Lastly, I was able to easily secure a position in a highly saturated market. Highly recommend!
Rishi Patel, DDS, AEGD CO2020
I owe this program a lot for I am clinically today. There’s not a day that goes by where I don’t think back to what I learned during my year in the program. My biggest takeaways were how much I learned about different dental materials, how they work, and when to use particular materials. I credit my confidence in my clinical skills to Dr. MacPherson and this program.

The ECU AEGD program was incredibly comprehensive, and I graduated feeling more confident and competent as a provider. As a resident, you are afforded a vast network of the community service learning centers and over 20 other residents, some of which I still talk to today! Additionally, you’ll have support from faculty/staff when needed.

Three years out into the workforce and I can say that my learning experience with ECU’s AEGD program has been invaluable. I can correctly diagnose my patient’s symptoms and confidently tackle advance procedures. I would recommend this residency to any dental graduates!

Upon completing my time at ECU- AEGD, I gained an unparalleled foundation for my career as a general practitioner. Transitioning into private practice was seamless due to refined comprehensive treatment planning skills, ability to provide quality dental care, and aptitude for recognizing when referrals were essential. I am deeply thankful for those who supported and invested in me during that year.
I would highly encourage anyone seeking to grow their clinical skill set, comprehensive care critical thinking and overall confidence as an early clinician to consider applying for this program.
Colton Allen, DDS, AEGD CO2022
The ECU AEGD was pivotal in my early career and set me apart from my peers. Not only did I gain competence in daily tasks in general dentistry, but I also gained more exposure and confidence in advanced surgical and endodontic procedures. The AEGD allowed me to learn complex treatment planning, increase time management, and gave an outstanding didactic base that I rely on daily. I can provide services in my community that go above and beyond routine general dentistry, and I would not have gained these skills so quickly without the AEGD experience
Mariah Allen, DDS, AEGD CO2022
My experience as an AEGD resident at ECU was more fulfilling than I ever could have imagined. The instructing doctors from all departments of dentistry were so knowledgeable and gave excellent mentorship. They made me excited about my work and helped me to step outside my comfort zone, allowing me to take on advanced procedures that many general dentists do not perform. My time at ECU undoubtedly helped me to excel much further and quicker as a practitioner than I would have in private practice.

I am so glad that I did an AEGD at Davidson CSLC. The experience gave me knowledge and confidence that I use in my day to day activities at work. I can easily go in without stressing about how to do extractions, implants, bone grafts and other surgeries. Even though I dreaded reading all the research articles at the time, it really helped me understand why certain materials work or even what to look for to make a treatment successful. The one year residency felt like it gave me a five year head start when I started working in the real world. I even made long lasting friendships out of this residency! So, thank you! I would do it again in a heartbeat!

When I initially decided I wanted to apply for an AEGD residency, I knew that the ECU AEGD-1 program was going to the be the best fit for me. Through my experience as a resident doctor at the Ross Hall AEGD clinic, I was able to get that experience, as well as learn what truly goes into comprehensive treatment planning and care. Dr. MacPherson takes such great care in crafting a unique program that incorporates didactic work, analyzing current literature, gaining exceptional clinic experience and periodic assessment of your growth throughout the course of program.
I would highly encourage anyone seeking to grow their clinical skill set, comprehensive care critical thinking and overall confidence as an early clinician to consider applying for this program.
Anna Rovetto, DDS, AEGD CO2023
The AEGD program at ECU expanded my skillset and confidence in the dental field. It gave us the unique opportunity to work side by side specialists in endodontics, periodontics, and oral surgery, as well as continually improving our restorative dentistry skills. The residency helped to prepare myself for private practice and I left the program feeling confident in managing complex patients, molar endodontics, and implant placement. I would highly recommend ECUs AEGD as it has shaped me from a new graduate to a confident dentist.
