Biographical Information
Dr. Holland received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a Pfeiffer Fellow, President of his Senior Class, and elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon. He practiced general dentistry in Wilson, North Carolina for 42 years prior to coming to the ECU School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Holland received his BS in Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has practiced pharmacy in several hospitals and many community pharmacies in North Carolina. He continues to hold a current license in pharmacy.
In addition to his private dental practice, Dr. Holland’s interests have centered around ethics, licensure, and self-regulation of the dental profession. He served on the Board of Directors of Medical Security Insurance Company, as well as the Insurance Committee of the North Carolina Dental Society, for many years. He was a founding member of North Carolina Services for Dentistry, Inc., and served as president of that organization. Dr. Holland was elected to four terms (12 years) on the North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners, where he served as president and secretary-treasurer. He was a founding member of The Council of Interstate Testing Agencies (CITA) and continues to serve as an examiner for CITA. Dr. Holland received the Meritorious Achievement Award of the North Carolina Dental Society.
