Welcome to the ECU School of Dental Medicine Office of Research
The ECU School of Dental Medicine is dedicated to improving the oral health and well-being of North Carolinians and populations nationally and globally. Toward this vision, the faculty, students, residents, postdoctoral fellows and staff of the School of Dental Medicine generate new knowledge impacting oral and general health via the conducting of innovative, translational research.
The Office of Research:
- Supports scholarly activities, facilitates the mentoring and training of the next generation of oral health investigators, and promotes interdisciplinary collaborations across ECU’s campus and nationally.
- Manages state-of-the-art facilities including the Basic Science Laboratory, Vivarium and Clinical Research Center. Partnering with the College of Engineering and Technology, the Office of Research provides support and laboratory space for the Biomaterials Cluster, an interdisciplinary group focused on tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, drug delivery and biomimetic materials.
- Has partnered with the Brody School of Medicine Department of Public Health and ECU Center for Health Disparities to form the Public Health, Oral Health and Health Disparities (POD) Research Administration Hub for grants management (pre- and post-award) located in Ross Hall.
- Is highly engaged in developing faculty and student leaders in oral and craniofacial health research, communicating research and funding opportunities for faculty, students and residents, and promoting the dissemination of research findings via national or international meetings, and peer-reviewed manuscripts and reports.
