Dr. Nisha Ganesh is named Interim Division Director of Predoctoral Clinical Education
Nisha F. Ganesh, DDS, has been appointed interim division director of predoctoral clinical education at the ECU School of Dental Medicine. This interim appointment is effective immediately.
Dr. Ganesh joined the School of Dental Medicine in the fall of 2012 as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of General Dentistry. She has been instrumental in establishing clinical instruction protocols for the school’s predoctoral program.
In the interim role, Ganesh will be responsible for the administration and coordination of predoctoral clinical education. She will also coordinate the activities of patient care staff in Ledyard E. Ross Hall clinics and at the school’s community service learning centers across the state to enhance patient care and student educational outcomes.
“We are delighted Dr. Ganesh has accepted this interim appointment,” said Greg Chadwick, dean of the dental school. “As Dr. Ganesh develops this new position and leadership role within our school, she will be able to leverage her expertise to improve our students’ clinical education while enhancing the care we provide our patients.”
Before joining the ECU School of Dental Medicine, Ganesh served first as a clinical instructor and then as an assistant professor at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry from 2009 to 2012, where she served as a group leader in the clinic with the third and fourth year students. Prior to her career in academia, she worked as an associate in the private practice of Dr. Ravi Ganesh, DDS, in Hyattsville, Maryland, from 2007 to 2009.
“I am enthusiastic about the opportunities this position will afford me to continue fulfilling the School of Dental Medicine’s mission,” said Dr. Ganesh.
Dr. Ganesh earned a doctor of dental surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 2007. She followed the DDS with a two-year residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) at University of Maryland School of Dentistry from 2007 to 2009. She holds memberships in the American Dental Association, the North Carolina Dental Society, American Dental Education Association, Maryland State Dental Association, and the East Central Dental Society.
