Biographical Information
Born and raised in Nashville, NC, Dr. Pafford earned her BA in chemistry, magna cum laude, and went on to be a member of our school’s inaugural Class of 2015. She furthered her education by completing an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency prior to joining the School of Dental Medicine as a Group Practice Leader and Clinical Assistant Professor in fall of 2016. During her time as faculty, Dr. Pafford also lead the 8×30 course which focused on the Practice of General Dentistry, exploring topics such as treatment planning, practice management and real-world applications of didactics taught at the SoDM.
In the fall of 2022, after a national search, Dr. Pafford was appointed Associate Dean for Student Affairs. During her time in Student Affairs, she enjoyed advocating for students, supporting students and their voices and creating valuable conversation between faculty and students. She also aided in expanding pipelines to engage younger audiences through what is known as Dental Discovery Day.
In the fall of 2023, Dr. Pafford transitioned theory into practice, and accepted the position of inaugural Dental Director at an interprofessional free and charitable clinic in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. During that time, she was able to build from the ground up, a clinic focused on serving the uninsured and underinsured.
Dr. Pafford is a member of American Dental Education Association, North Carolina Dental Society, American Dental Association, American Association of Women Dentists and Fifth District Society.
