Smiles on Friday – May 30, 2025
Smiles on Friday is our weekly update from around the ECU School of Dental Medicine. Follow the activities of students, faculty, staff and residents each week. If you want to receive the email version, please send a note to smilesonfriday@ecu.edu.

It’s the beginning of the Endodontics module for our D1s. Every year they have a great team of dentists join them for this experience. Dr. Joe Camp checks in on his grandson, Sammy Damesek.

Dr. Gavin Mundy ’16 suggests a different bur to Blake Henkel.

Dr. Chris Sheaffer is proud of Lucy Anna Sheaffer’s progress.

D4s Trejin Hartsfield, Haley Debnam, Maya Grimes and Mark Harris volunteered to educate people on the importance of oral health care in Elizabeth City as part of a local community health fair.

“Tomorrow Starts Soon” welcomes our incoming class to learn more about the SoDM. Nikki Fernando meets her ”big sister” Naaz Sheikhi during the “Big-Little Luncheon” today.

We gathered this week to celebrate the impact that Dr. Ed Connelly, associate dean for clinical affairs, Dr. Linc Conn, chair of general dentistry, and Dr. Rob Tempel, associate dean for extramural clinical practices, have had on the SoDM and wish them well in retirement!
