Dr. Luis Henrique Schlichting received the Outstanding Faculty Award from the School of Dental Medicine’s graduating Class of 2017. Class president Dr. Taylor Hewitt and vice president Dr. Rebekah Finger announced the award at the school’s Graduation Convocation on May 6.

Alternating remarks, the class leaders said . . .

“During the past four years, we have had the opportunity to work with many excellent faculty members, and each year the graduating class recognizes a faculty members who has gone above and beyond in their dedication to teaching students.

The Class of 2017 would like to recognize an outstanding faculty member for demonstrating unwavering dedication to students through excellence in teaching.

The recipient of this year’s award is someone who has dedicated their time to educating students by being in clinic and providing students with coverage beyond what they were called to do. This faculty member sacrificed time with their own family and spent time after hours teaching students cutting-edge techniques in dentistry.

Whether it was a simple or complex case, this professor was eager to engage in the opportunities to teach students and deliver optimal treatment to patients in need. This faculty member also never missed a chance to provide students with positive feedback. Their expertise in dentistry, unjaded excitement to teach, and patience with students prompted our class to make this nomination.

On behalf of the Class of 2017, it is a privilege to present the Outstanding Faculty Award to Dr. Luis Schlichting!”
