Dr. Robert Foreman is named associate dean for clinical affairs at the ECU School of Dental Medicine
After a national search, Robert R. Foreman, DDS, has been appointed associate dean for clinical affairs at the ECU School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Foreman joined the School of Dental Medicine as director of clinics in September 2012. He was also appointed interim associate dean for clinical affairs in May 2013. He will continue serving as associate dean for clinical affairs and as director of clinics until a search can be completed for the latter position.
As associate dean for clinical affairs, Foreman collaborates on the integration of the DMD curriculum within the Comprehensive Care Clinic, Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics Clinic, and Advanced Care Clinic in Ross Hall on the ECU Health Sciences Campus. He also supervises all clinical operations, including personnel, policies and procedures, and credentialing.
Foreman also holds a faculty appointment in the School of Dental Medicine’s Department of General Dentistry.

He brings a strong background with extensive experience in clinical affairs,” said Greg Chadwick, dean of the ECU School of Dental Medicine. “He understands the importance of melding clinical education experiences with patient care in achieving our mission. We are very excited to have Dr. Foreman leading our clinical affairs teams.”
Prior to joining the School of Dental Medicine, Foreman served on the faculty of the University of Maryland School of Dentistry from 2005 to 2012, with appointments including clinical assistant professor and associate executive director of general practice clinics. He maintained a solo practice of general dentistry in Bellows Fall, Vermont, from 1986 to 2005. Early in his career, Foreman served as a clinical research pharmacist for the Baltimore Cancer Research Center, National Cancer Institute in Baltimore, Maryland.

Foreman earned a doctor of dental surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 1983 and a bachelor of science in pharmacy with honors from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy in 1974. He holds professional memberships in the American Dental Association, the North Carolina Dental Society, and the American Dental Education Association. He has also served as a member of the American Association of Dental Boards Professional Review and Evaluation Program and consultant for Northeast Delta Dental.
