Biographical Information
Dr. Prita A. Dhaimade is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Periodontics in the Department of Surgical Sciences at the East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine. She co-directs the Fundamentals of Periodontology course and teaches in the classroom, simulation, and clinical settings, including supervision of residents in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program.
She earned her BDS degree from Nair Hospital Dental College in Mumbai, India, and completed her MS and Certificate in Periodontics at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She has additional training in implantology through mini-residency in Implantology from the University at Buffalo and periodontology experience at the Ohio State University.
At ECU, Dr. Dhaimade provides specialty care in regenerative periodontal therapies and implantology in the faculty practice. Her research interests include alveolar ridge preservation, autogenous tooth–derived grafting, biologics in periodontal regeneration, and the application of artificial intelligence in dental education and assessment. She has received recognition for her leadership and educational contributions, including the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation Educator Scholarship (2024) and the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Outstanding Senior Leadership Award (2025).
She is an active member of professional organizations such as the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, and the American Dental Education Association.
Beyond dentistry, Dr. Dhaimade is an illustrator and mixed-media artist who previously worked professionally in illustration. She also enjoys traveling, hiking in national parks and volunterring at the animal shelter.
